Catrice Liquid Metal Eyeshadows – Photos, Details, Swatches & Some Thoughts

By Kasthuri

Hello!

I first fell in love with Catrice’s nail polishes – the now discontinued Will You Berry Me is one of my favorite shades ever and Catrice makes wonderful mascaras that are extremely affordable. The brand has rolled out a new selection of eyeshadows with such beautiful textures and colours, it really stops you in your tracks. Out in stores right now, here’s a look at the Catrice Liquid Metal Eyeshadows.

The range consists of 9 shades of pressed eyeshadows in a range of neutral and smokey colours. Each eyeshadow retails at just S$7.90 – eyepopping prettiness at an eyepopping price.

Catrice highlights that these eyeshadows are high on pigmentation and shine – these are designed to create a chrome effect on the eyelids.

I totally love the faux snake emboss on the eyeshadows – just looking at it in the pan gives you a hint of the beauty that is about to unfold, especially when the light hits it.

The packaging, as you can see from the photos above, features a small square pan with a clear top-casing which makes it easy to identify shades. I like how Catrice has given the eyeshadows both a number and a name – the names are pretty quirky and a little reminiscent of rock bands.

Here are swatches of all 9 shades (dry, with no primer)

I initially received 2 from the brand in the press kit – 020 Gold N’ Roses and 080 Mauves Like Jagger but couldn’t resist and ended up picking up 040 Under Treasure (perfect for a crease shade!) and 050 We’re The Inner Purple. I will admit that I’m terribly terribly tempted to pick up 070 Gold Leaf Me though there is really no shortage of golden olives in my stash of eyeshadows.

The Catrice Liquid Metals have a very silky texture – they don’t quite feel like cream-to-powder eyeshadows but the smoothness makes you think of a cream formula. I love how these just adhere to the skin and glow – you really have to give them a swatch to experience what I’m talking about.

I don’t really want to make the comparison because it might not be fair but it’s very hard not to be reminded of a MAC eyeshadow formula – the Extra Dimension eyeshadows, which also feature an undulating emboss design. If you missed out on those, then you really have to take a look at these. If I understand correctly, these should be permanent but why wait – these will be awesome for the festive season (Christmas, New Year, Lunar New Year all in row!).

My friends have been getting their hands on these too – it appears that 040 Under Treasure and 070 Mauves Like Jagger are often sold out at the various Catrice displays so if you see anything you like, I say “just grab!”.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fab week ahead!
