The Catalina Geo is a gel liner that promises to be long lasting, waterproof, smudge proof and sweat proof and comes with it's own mini eyeliner brush for a soft and precise line.
The whole concept of the a gel liner pot at the bottom and a brush liner included in the cap is not very unique at all since there are a couple of brands that has done that before. I do find it very convenient that the brush is attached to it that way I won't forget to pack a brush whenever I would use the gel liner to travel.
I would like to point out that although the packaging is pretty, it is cheaply made. After I initially took out the brush, it won't snap back in place as tightly as it was before. I can put it back but it just won't stay in place and I end up losing it inside my makeup bag among my other beauty products.
The brush is a pretty decent size, very comfortable to hold even if it is a little bit short. The fibers are long and thin.
I am not a fan of this brush. I personally think that it is too long and has more give so a little pressure can mess up application pretty quickly. It would have been better if the brush is shorter and stiffer that way I would have more control for a more precise application.
The gel eyeliner itself is amazing. It is a smooth, rich black shade, very pigmented. Once it sets, it really doesn't budge. And it sets quickly too! It is indeed waterproof, sweat proof and smudge proof. A makeup remover is needed to remove this product because just water and a cleanser wouldn't completely rid of this.
Above are swatches of the eyeliner using the brush it came with. As you can see, it is really hard for me to get a precise, thin line and when I was able to do a thin line, there wasn't enough color because the tip of the brush is very thin and fine so it could't grab a lot of the product.
In the photo above, you can see how messy my eyeliner is. I tried my best to make the line as clean and as precise as I possibly can but the brush was giving me a hard time. I could make the brush work although it takes me double the amount of time to do my eyeliner since I have to be very careful on my application.
I really love the formula of the gel eyeliner. I'll definitely be using this gel eyeliner more often during the colder season since that is the time where my eyes are more sensitive and more prone to dryness and itchiness, thus, I carry around with me eye drops wherever I go and I have no time for smudgy eyeliners. The problem lies with the brush it comes with. Since Catalina Geo is marketing the eyeliner and the brush as a set, that didn't entirely work on their favor. In my personal opinion, either they change up the brush to a better one, or they just sell the pot of gel eyeliner by itself.
Great gel eyeliner but brush is a flop. I'll use my own eyeliner brush thank you very much.
