On our recent trip to Ibiza we stayed in a lovely resort called Cala Llonga. It’s one of the quiet resorts on the island, a pituresque bay flanked by pine covered hills on both sides, only about 30mins drive from both Ibiza Town and the party capital San Antonio. I’ll tell you a little about the hotel we stayed in at a later date, but firstly some more about the resort. 
The bay and beach area is really beautiful with a wide beach with white sand and calm aquamarine waters. The water stays shallow to chest deep for a good way out too which I always like. You could easily swim from the beach to our hotel on one side of the bay too which was pretty cool.

It’s pretty easy to get around, only a few streets really but equipped with all you need including supermarket, pharmacy and plenty of places to eat & drink. A lot of the buildings were also covered in beautiful foliage, with the obligatory catci and palm trees dotted around.
We had booked to go half board at our hotel, but weren’t overly keen on the food offerings, so swapped our included dinner to lunches so we could go out and explore a bit in the evenings. There were plenty of places to eat in Cala Llonga, some of which were typical ‘Brits abroad’ offerings; the typical ‘Full English here’ etc, but we also found a few gems. I’m going to tell you about a place called El Deseo and Can Nuts (I know, what a name right?!) in separate posts because these were the standouts of the resort, but heres a selection of what else we ate!

Possibly more impressive, or at least more fun than the food in our resort was the cocktails. There was again the more typical ‘disco cocktails’ piled high with umbrellas and feathers, done best at a place called Pirates Bar. Oh so retro but heaps of fun all the same.
There was also a few places that served some slightly more sophisticated ones. The best of these came from the Jam Shack, El Deseo and The Terrace, as well as a brilliant place called Bambuddha about 20mins dive form the resort, I’ll tell you all about the food and drink there another time, as it really was special. The Jam Shack was our favorite for drinks

We were really surprised with the quality of some of the restaurants we found in Cala Llonga – a cut above some resorts we’ve been to! Whilst staying in Cala Llonga we took a few trips to Ibiza Town, The Las Dalias Hippy Market, San Antonio and the beautiful island of Fomentera so watch out for posts on these coming up soon.
