 Broken Wheat and Oat Porridge with Fruits

A healthy duet of grains like broken wheat and oats with fruits like banana and apples, this Porridge is an ideal way to start a morning, as it not only gives a lot of energy but is also brimming with calcium, protein, fiber, etc.

Serves 3 servings
 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sliced fruits of your choice
  • 1/2 cup broken wheat (Dalia), washed and drained
  • 1/4 cup quick cooking rolled oats
  • 2 cups low-fat milk
  • 2 teaspoon low-fat butter
  • Sugar to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom (elaichi) powder

Method

  1. Heat the butter in a pan and add the broken wheat and sauté on a slow flame for 2-3 minute.
  2. Add the oats and sauté on a slow flame for another 2 minutes.
  3. Add the 2 cups of milk and 1 cup of water mix well and cook on medium heat till it thicken.
  4. Add the sugar and cardamom (elaichi) powder mix well and cool slightly.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 1/2 hour. Just before serving, add the fruits and mix well.
  6. Serve immediately.
