Hello everyone! I’m finally back from Australia! Last week while I was there, The Wedding Scoop featured a bridal makeup tutorial which I showcased how to achieve a glamourous evening look on your wedding day. I’m reblogging this as a whole, because they did such a wonderful job putting my steps and points together with commentary and photographs (shot by Jac from 5degreeshift). Thanks to all the other contributors too, as well as my assistant that day, Kris.

Glamorous Purple and Gold Smokey Eye Makeup Tutorial
We are delighted to share this first in a four-part series of hair/makeup tutorials with you, Wedding Scoopers! Even if you’re not one to do your own makeup at your wedding (we certainly couldn’t), we hope this look and the others we’ll be sharing will allow you to explore them for a special occasion or just be used as gorgeous inspiration for your big day!
We have the lovely Gabrielle from Basic Models today showing us this glamourous bridal makeup look.
“This look is perfect for an evening wedding where you have both a golden sunset and dramatic lighting after nightfall. The makeup will be sure to add sparkle and definition to your features!” ~ Makeup Artist Joanna Koh
BASE
Step 1
Hydrate and correct the skin tone with a CC Cream. We used Ole Henriksen Perfect Truth CC Crème.
Step 2
To brighten sallow skin, apply an illuminating base. We used MAC Strobe Cream.
Step 3
Remove any imperfections and dark eye circles with concealer. We used Make Up For Ever Lift Concealer.
Step 4
A full coverage but dewy foundation is great for those with less-than-perfect skin but still want to look fresh. We used Face Atelier Ultra Foundation.
BROWS
Step 5
Lightly define the brows and then use a brow gel to hold those strands in place. We used Heroine Make Quick Eyebrow Pencil & MAC Eyebrow Gel.
CHEEKS
Step 6
For killer cheekbones, sweep a brown based contouring powder in the hollows of your cheeks. We used Make Up For Ever Sculpting Kit. Then add a pop of color for a healthy flush, sweeping the blush from your ear down your cheek. We used Bobbi Brown Blush #Apricot.
EYES
Step 7
To make your eyeshadow colours stand out and last the entire day, always use an eyeshadow primer. We used Urban Decay Anti-aging Eyeshadow Primer.
Step 8
This is a smokey eye with a difference! Smokey eyes don’t only have to be black, brown or gray. Here, we used purples and gold for a unique spin on the smokey eye. Starting with a deep purple (Urban Decay #Vice), stay close to your lash line and work it up to the crease, leaving the inner 1/3 corner of your eyes for the sparkling gold eyeshadow (Urban Decay #Half Baked). Run a matte taupe color (Urban Decay #Naked2) across the crease of your eyes, and finish by highlighting your brow bone with a soft, off-white shade (Urban Decay #Venus).
Step 9
No smokey eyes are complete without smouldering eyeliner and lashes. Line the upper eyeline as well as the outer corners of the lower lash line with a black or deep purple eyeliner pencil. We used Urban Decay Eye Pencil in #Delinquent.
Step 10
Fatten up those eyelashes with mascara or use false lashes to really make those peepers open. I used Star Lash Tokyo Lash Collection #3.
LIPS
Step 11
You don’t always have to do the smokey eye and nude lip combo. Here, a coffee shade was used on the lips to bring definition to them without over powering the eyes. We used Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick #Finish First.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the wedding creatives who were involved in this series of hair and makeup tutorials. You agreed so readily when we approached you and were just amazing to work with!
