Breaded Crab Sticks

By Foodandhealthuk

Today, I have made these tasty breaded crab sticks in less than 15 minutes!! There are great appetizers when you have friends around or can be served with salad as a starter, it is your choice!

Preparation time: 10 minutes Cooking time: 5 minutes

Ingredients for breaded Crab Sticks:

  • 16 seafood sticks
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup of golden breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Method:

  1. Dredge the crab sticks in flour. This a cooking technique to coat the moist crab sticks with a dry ingredient such as flour. It helps to even the coating on the crab sticks.
  2. Beat an egg separately in a bowl. To do this, crack an egg in a bowl and whisk the egg white and yolk using a fork until it is fully blended.
  3. Place the breadcrumbs on a separate plate.
  4. Dip the floured crab sticks in the beaten egg and place them on a separate plate.
  5. Coat the crab sticks with breadcrumbs until each side is fully covered.
  6. Deep fry the crab sticks for 3 minutes. To do this, add the vegetable oil to a deep pan and fill it to half to prevent spillovers. Preheat the oil to approximately 180C which can be measured by placing a probe thermometer in the center of the pan. Place 4 to 5 crab sticks at a time, otherwise by putting too of those will reduce the temperature of the oil and make the crab sticks greasier as it will absorb more oil. If the temperature is too high, it will oxidise the oil which lead to various health risks. You can use olive oil if you don't mind of its bitter taste when deep frying as it is more resistant to oxidisation than any other cooking oils. Cook until golden and drain them on paper towels to remove any excess oil.

Enjoy it with some sweet chili dip sauce!!
