Bread Halwa

Ingredients:
- Bread slices 8-10
- Ghee 1/2 cup
- Milk 500 ml
- Sugar to taste
- Almonds 1 tablespoon (chopped)
- pistachio 1 tablespoon (chopped)
- Cashew nuts 1 tablespoon (chopped)
- Cardamom 3-4 (peel and grind)
- Pinch of saffron strands
- 4-5 tablespoon Fresh cream
Method:
- Break the bread into small pieces.
- Take a heavy bottom pan and heat ghee into it.
- Reserve 1 tablespoons of ghee for later use.
- Add cashews, almonds and pistachios. Fry till these turn to golden brown. Remove these from the ghee. Keep aside.
- Put the bread pieces into the ghee and roast it on medium flame.
- It should be golden in color, once the bread gets roasted, put milk, saffron and sugar to it.
- Stir the halwa continuously and press the bread pieces with the ladle to mash it.
- Bring to boil and Cook on a low heat till the bread pieces become soft / dissolve.
- Cook till the mixture becomes thick. That is, it should gain halwa type consistency.
- Add cardamom powder, reserved ghee and fried dry fruits and mix well.
- Bread Halwa is ready.
- Take it out in a serving dish and garnish with fresh cream.
- Serve it hot.
Notes:
- You can use any quality of bred to make Halwa. Every quality has its own unique taste
- You can either use or discard the edges of the bread. If you use these, however, the halwa taste will be unique.
- Do not deep-fry the bread pieces in ghee, because the pieces will consume more ghee.
