I felt inspired to write a book post this morning, as I've realised that I'm half way through my first book list! If you don't know what on Earth I'm on about my Book List post can be found here. Basically, I made myself a list of 6 books, that I would read in order, and once finished I would keep making lists of unfinished/unstarted books I own both literally and on my kindle, and not buy any books until I had completed them all. (I used to buy a LOT of books...)
And I'm now half way through the first one! So I thought I'd quickly review the books I've read so far.
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathon Safran Foer
I wrote a longer review for this book that you can find here. But all I have to say is that I adored this book. It was heartbreaking, heartwarming and also funny in parts. A lot of people have recommended the film to me, but I think I may give it a miss due to how much I enjoyed the book. I loved the main character and if he isn't exactly how I've imagined him I think I shall get cross...

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger
This is one of those classic books I've been meaning to read for a while. I'm going to be completely honest, at first I really wasn't enjoying this book. I think it's mainly due to reading it at the age of 21 I couldn't relate to Holden and his teenage agnst like I would have been able to at a young age. Having said that about 20 chapters in (It really did take me a while to warm to it...) I started to fall in love with it, and I was no longer reading it out of duty. I think the ending was the perfect way to finish off the story, and I think if I re-read it I'd enjoy it as a whole rather than after 20 chapters in... I can know see why this book is so celebrated and am really glad I read it.

Shopaholic and Baby by Sophie Kinsella
I have been reading the Shopaholic books since I was 18 years old. For some reason I didn't read the series in one go, I tend to read one Shopaholic book a year, it wasn't planned but that's how it's worked out. I adore the character of Becky Bloomwood who is ditzy, impulsive and above all lovable. When I first started these books I thought that it would be some lightweight chicklit about a girl who shops a lot... And of course, there is that, but there are so much more to these stories. They actually make me roar with laughter and this one was no different. Love love love. 4/5
And starting today: The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
