Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Serum

By Bbeautylove @bbeautylove

It has been about a week or so now since I was struck down with the dreaded winter virus. A week and a half of hell followed but once you start to feel better, the challenge is getting your complexion back to what it was.

I found my skin to be very dull, lacklustre and with a slight gray tinge which I imagine you have all experienced once you start to recover from an illness whether it a virus, flu or something more serious. So, I decided to create a series of posts on the products I used to get my skin back to its best. First up on this path, is skincare.

On paper, this Extra Repair Serum from Bobbi Brown doesn’t sound like something that would help my type of skin. For one it is designed for dry or very dry skin and two it aids the reduction of wrinkles. Both are complaints that I don’t have but this didn’t stop it doing wonders for my skin.

Ideal for a tired, dull complexion this serum promises to comfort skin as it firms, brightens and moisturises. It contains amazing ingredients such as Vitamin C, Olive Oil, Clary Sage Extract and Meadowfoam Seed Oil which are super effective at helping perk up your skin. The smell of this is amazing, very calming and medicinal which is reminiscent of products used in high end spas. The texture of the serum is quite light, with an almost milky texture that caresses and sinks into the skin quickly.

Even though it is for dry skin, I have found that it has really improved the texture and softness of my oily skin, hydrating it without making it greasy. It instantly makes you feel better when you apply it (I think it has to do with the scent) and it hasn’t reacted badly to my skin or broke me out.

It has definitely brightened my complexion, my skin feels firmer, smoother and softer to the touch. It has also lightened some old blemish scars and redness on my face which is an added bonus. It doesn’t however help with current blemishes and sadly won’t reduce them, but again it isn’t designed for this purpose so keep up with any blemish treatments you may be using. With my skin being oily I only apply two small pumps of this per application. Once in the morning after exfoliating my face and once at night after cleansing and I find this plenty. If you do have super dry skin, you could probably apply more.

The packaging is also a selling point. Simple, classic and timeless this frosted glass bottle will look amazing on any dressing table. It just screams luxury and quality and who doesn’t love that?

If you have really bad skin or incredibly oily skin, maybe try and get a sample of this first before you splash out as it is quite expensive. However, the price reflects the quality and the results are noticeable after around 2 weeks with a significant improvement probably by 4-6 weeks. Great for older skin too, it would make a great present if you didn’t want to get it for yourself.

I highly, highly recommend this is you have dull, sallow or damaged skin that needs rescuing.

Available from House of Fraser and Bobbi Brown online. Priced £60.00 for 30ml.
