Black, White and Some Stripes
Hi guys,
Happy Easter!!! So glad to be home for the short holiday which I’m quite grateful for. I woke up super early this morning but the good part about waking up today was that it was on my own terms…no rushing to get ready for work or no work to get to on my computer and no deadlines waiting for me, not today there isn’t.
I’ve been staring at the ceiling for like an hour just taking stock of this month that is about to come to a sweet end. In so short a time April is already upon us and Easter just reminds us of the sacrifices Christ made for us and the many blessings and miracles all around us. I woke up this morning with a great sense of gratitude and so much warmth in my heart that I could not wait to put all my thoughts down on paper. Also I’m making it my number one priority to have a really good day today and I hope you do too.

I wanted to share with you this minimalist ensemble I put today with emphasis on my love for black and white. I’ve always been partial to the color black but this thing I have going on with white is quite recent. In the past I’ve never really enjoyed wearing white because that is one color that is quite skilled in the art of getting super dirty so fast. Just imagine entering public transportation while wearing a white skirt or pants, we both know it’s going to be ‘off white’ like the paint before you get to your destination. That has been one of the reasons why I didn’t explore white so much in the past. But now, I’m committed to trying out new things with the color and who knows what will happen in the long run.

This outfit can be worn as semi-formal or can be worn casually if you swap the button-up shirt for a less formal shirt but even the rose detailing on the shirt gives it a casual edge if worn differently. This jacket is actually a sleeveless double-breasted dress which I styled as a sleeveless blazer in this ensemble. I really love the shirt and jacket combo, both of which are from one of my favorite Nigerian brands – Maju. They sell really nice and unique pieces that are always exceptionally pretty; in fact brands like this make it easy to live without having to buy any clothes from online stores overseas, thanks to the current exchange rate hullabaloo.
