Biore Balancing Cleanser For Combination Skin

By Ritujain
It is hard to pick up a perfect cleansing product if you have combination skin. Combination skin means some areas of your face are dry and some are oily. Mostly, it's the T-zone which is on the oily side so that means oily forehead, nose and chin with dry cheeks/C-zone. If you use a soap based cleanser on such skin then it will get you rid of the excess oil from the T-zone but at the same time will leave your C-zone even drier. The reverse is also true if you pick a cream based or mild cleanser to take care of the dry parts of your face because it will not be good enough to get you rid of the excess oil from the T-zone.
Struggling with all this in my head I was just looking at some products in the skincare aisle of Priceline just when I saw this Biore Combination Skin Balancing Cleanser and wanted to give it a try to deep clean my skin because my Himalaya cleanser was not doing good enough with my T-zone. It's been a week now since I have been using this cleanser from Biore so it's a good time to review this.

Biore Combination Skin Balancing Cleanser is gel like liquid cleanser which has medium to slightly thick consistency. It is colourless cleanser with a strong, bitter and chemical-ish fragrance and the fragrance does take around 2 hours or so to completely fade away. I hate the feeling when it's fragrance keeps me reminding that I have used something on my face.
I take a pea sized amount of this and rub it in between my wet hands to foam it up and apply on my face and neck in gentle upward circular motion. It lathers well and removes oil, dirt and non-waterproof makeup extremely well. I feel really refreshed and clean when I use this to cleanse my face.
My main concern while trying this product was to see whether it actually would be able to balance my combination skin or it will turn out to be not so good for either of the two areas of my face. After using it on my face for more than 10 times I really have noticed that it does a pretty decent job to clear the oil and makeup residues from my face and leaves it really clean and at the same time it has been gentle for the dry areas of my face. My C-zone never felt stretched or drier while using this and T-zone felt really clean and mattified. My skin felt really soft and smooth every time I used this and remained oil-free for hours. I never experienced any allergy, irritation or breakouts while using this cleanser from Biore.

The only thing that I disliked about this product , apart from it's annoying fragrance is that it is hard to wash off from the face. I have to use so much water and spend extra time to wash it off and it keeps forming bubbles and feels like a film on the face. I hate that feeling especially when I am in a hurry and this cleanser just refuses to get off. Initially I thought that I might have used more than what was required but no, I tried using just a drop sized amount and it did the same. I keep splashing my face again and again with water hoping for it to wash off but it does take some time.

Overall, I would say that it is a good cleanser if you have combination to oily skin. However if you have dry skin then steer clear from this because it might make you even drier. It takes time to wash it off and smells annoyingly so if you are okay with that then you can give it a try.

Summarized below are some Yays' and Nays about this Biore Balancing Cleanser:
Yays:
  1. Convenient and travel friendly packaging
  2. Effective and cleanses the skin deeply
  3. Removes oil, dust, dirt and stubborn make up remains really well
  4. Gentle for daily use
  5. Does not dry out the areas of the face that are already dry
  6. Mattifies T-zone
  7. Non-comedogenic
  8. Hypoallergic
  9. Does not break me out
  10. Reasonably priced
Nays:
  1. Annoying smell that takes more than 2 hours to fade away
  2. Difficult to be washed off with water
'Go for it' or 'No for it':
The good things about this cleanser clearly out-weigh the not-so-good ones so it definitely can be given a try. If you have combination skin or oily skin and can ignore it's smell and are ready to spend a few extra minutes to wash it off then go for it.
