Besan Ka Halwa

 Besan Ka Halwa

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 20-25 Minutes
serves:2-3

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Besan/gram flour
  • ½ cup Ghee
  • ½ cup Sugar to taste
  • Chopped cashews, almonds, pistachio
  • 1/2 cup water,
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom

Method:

  1. Melt the ghee in a wide and heavy bottom pan. Roast the gram flour with out adding any liquid about 3-5 minutes and stirring continuously, till the color of besan/gram flour turned dark brown and the fragrance starts coming.
  2. While you are roasting the besan/gram flour, in a separate pan on medium heat, bring a mixture of the milk, water, sugar and cardamom powder to a boil.
  3. Once gram flour/besan turns dark brown(Roasted) Gently add water, milk and sugar mixture.
  4. Now besan starts to boil. Stir forcefully to ensure no lumps are formed. Once the besan has boiled, reduce flame and continue to stir.
  5. Once the water has evaporated, the besan will obtain a consistency and will and begins to come away from the sides of the pan.
  6. Turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool to a warm temperature.
  7. Sprinkle the sliced almonds, pistachio.
