Beauty Event: Golden Globes 2013

By Bbeautylove @bbeautylove

Awards season has started and although we have already had the Critics Choice Awards, I don’t get interested until the GG’s. So what we the key looks this time? Below I have a round up of the best beauty trends and you will be surprised as this year it was all very subdued…

Glossy Nudes

The majority of starlets seemed to let the dress do the talking and keep the make up as fresh, glossy and healthy looking as possible with neutral colours being the key words. This hyper-real skin and glossy make up was very big on the S/S 13 catwalks, so it is no surprise that red carpet make up artists have adopted these looks for their clients. And after all that heavy, rich Gothic make up of last season it was time for a change. Who got it right? Sienna Miller, Amanda Seyfried, Megan Fox and Hayden Panettiere all kept things very soft, luxe and beautiful.

Berry Nice

Another trend, although very subtle was the berry lip. Not quite as dramatic as the deep wine reds of A/W but softer and more plum in tone. Teamed with soft eye make up, this really brightens up the complexion and made the stars look glowing without the need for excessive highlighter! My favourite lady who wore this was Mrs. Daniel Craig aka Rachel Weisz who looked gorgeous. Other berry lip hits? Isla Fisher, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Miranda Kerr.

Blue Smoke

As with any awards show there are always those faithful to the smoky eye no matter what season or what trends are popular. At the Golden Globes, it took on a more blue-toned feel, which isn’t as harsh on the skin as full on black shadow. Some wore deep navy some went for ice cold blue, but if you want a twist on a classic, this is it. I created a similar look at the weekend (see post) but those who got it right on the night include Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Richie, Heidi Klum and Sally Field.

Hot Lips

A pop of colour on the lips was also popular with the more daring set, with shades such as coral, chili red and hot pink making an appearance. These were kept pretty matte and soft, with classic eye make up so all the attention was on the lips. Colour is always a great beauty trend for Spring and these stars are showing us what we can expect from the coming months. Best seen on Kelly Osbourne, Sofia Vergara, Salma Hayek and Jessica Alba.

Micro Trends

Other popular looks were a bronze smoky eye as seen on Julianne Hough and Lea Michele along with the classic black kohl smoky eye that is always popular seen on Debra Messing and Katharine McPhee . Jennifer Lawrence went one further and really winged out her eyeshadow to create a dramatic and sexy look for the red carpet. Adele did her classic heavy eyeliner and nude lip combo which looked amazing and fresh with her super smooth skin. But my favourite trend of the night? It has got to be the Glossy Nudes, as it looks so easy yet is so effective with Megan Fox doing it the best.

All in all, not the most daring of trends last night but lots of great looks to try at home. The glossy nude is a trend we can all achieve with the right products and berry lips only take a slick of juicy lip balm like Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie and we can all look like Rachel Weisz. Or maybe not…
