Who doesn’t love restaurant week? I know it’s one of my favorite times of the year, and this year is no different. Restaurant week is one of the few times where we can get out and visit some of the best, and let’s be honest, some of the most expensive restaurants in a prix-fixe way! Basically, each participating restaurant picks their best menu items, and trims the price, so everyone can enjoy what they have to offer.

Austin’s Restaurant Week will kick off again this May with its return after a fall hiatus. The organization announced their official dates via the following press release: May 11-14 and 18-21.

Eight days of dining will feature special prix fixe menus from lunch, dinner, and brunch at participating restaurants, and proceeds will to benefit Meals on Wheels. Awesome, right? The full press release is below.

Austin Restaurant Week Partners with Tribeza! City’s preeminent lifestyle publication will produce the long-running culinary event which raises money for Meals on Wheels and More.

As Austin Restaurant Week (ARW) moves into its sixth year, the bi-annual culinary event taking place each spring and fall, has partnered with local media and events powerhouse TRIBEZA who will produce ARW moving forward. The eight days of dining during ARW’s spring edition will take place on May 11-14 and 18-21 during which time Austinites can dine at participating restaurants for lunch, brunch, and dinner. The prix-fixe menus offer varied dining options featuring restaurant highlights, all while giving back to a notable cause.

For the team at TRIBEZA, the decision to take on Austin Restaurant Week was an easy one. Wanting to fulfill the promise of the long-standing event for both the culinary community and local businesses in Austin, as well as satisfy excited diners, the magazine’s event team is eager to kick-off the first installment, taking it to the next level. “A part of our regular coverage includes food, chefs and dining, so partnering with Austin Restaurant Week is a natural fit for TRIBEZA. We are excited about the possibilities and look forward to putting on a great event this May and an enduring partnership moving forward,” said George Elliman, Publisher + Principal.

“I have had a long-standing relationship with George Elliman and felt that as this event has grown, the needs of it aligned with what TRIBEZA has been doing so well for Austin. I am excited about what we’ll be adding to Austin Restaurant Week for the benefit of participating restaurants and sponsors, as well as those that enjoy Austin Restaurant Week as fans. Lots of exciting things ahead for us.” said Taylor Perkins, Founder of Austin Restaurant Week.

Again this year, ARW will benefit local non-profit Meals on Wheels and More (MOWAM), with $2 from every ARW purchased donated to the organization which offers life-sustaining services to thousands of Central Texas neighbors in need. Meals on Wheels, is the organization’s signature program which provides hot, nutritious meals delivered by dedicated volunteers right to clients’ doors. They also offer a wide-range of other vital services designed to keep the people they serve living in their own home instead of in a nursing home. Ultimately, $2 covers the cost of one meal so when dining out during ARW, guests are literally creating a meal for a MOWAM recipient.

“When folks take part in Austin Restaurant Week, they make a positive difference in the lives of the homebound older adults served by Meals on Wheels and More,” said Dan Pruett, President & CEO, Meals on Wheels and More. “We are so very grateful to the organizers of Austin Restaurant Week for their incredible support of our mission and for putting compassion into action! Since 2011, Austin Restaurant Week has raised more than $72,000 to help us help those we serve.”
