Atta Halwa Recipe – Wheat Flour Halwa

Main Ingredients: Whole wheat flour (atta), Pure gheeCuisine: North IndianCourse: Desserts,sweetsLevel of Cooking: MediumPreparation Time: 10-15 minutesCooking Time: 15-20 minutesServes: 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
  • 1/2 cup melted (ghee)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (chini)
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom (elaichi) powder
  • 1 tablespoon almond chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Cashews chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Raisins
  • 1 tablespoon pistachios

Method:

  1. Heat the ghee in a heavy bottom deep pan.
  2. add the whole wheat flour and sauté on a medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes or till it turns brown in color and the ghee separates.
  3. Add the sugar, cardamom powder and pour hot water into the pan.
  4. The quantity of water should be thrice the quantity of the flour, mix well and cook on a slow flame for another 10 minutes or till the sugar dissolves, while stirring continuously.
  5. add chopped nuts into the halwa and mix well. Keep on stirring the halwa so that it does not stick at the bottom of the pan.
  6. Serve hot garnish with chopped almonds and pistachios.
Note: 
  • You can substitute or increase and reduce the quantity of nuts and sugar in the halwa according to your preference
