Apple Loses Another iPhone Prototype

iPhoneApparently another Apple employee has lost the latest iPhone prototype in a bar. Yes, exactly the same situation that happened with the iPhone 4 last year when an Apple employee “lost” it in a bar in California.

After it was lost, the tech blog Gizmodo was able to purchase the phone for $5000 and make the exclusive report on the phone. In the end, it had to be returned to Apple.

According to Mashable, the phone was lost in a bar called Cava22 in San Francisco. Apple was concerned about the prototype and who might have it.

Apple traced their prototype to a neigborhood. The police arrived to the home of a 22 year old who was interrogated about the location of the device. The resident actually confirmed that he had been at Cava22, but he did not have any knowledge on the whereabouts of the phone. Police additionally searched inside the house for the phone but it was not found. Right before leaving the house, an Apple employee offered a cash reward to the young man to return or give any hint about the location of the device.

I understand the situation that Apple is going through right now, but come on, if you don’t want that to happen you should have better security policies. But what if Apple wanted that to happen? In my opinion, it is a nice strategy since it worked very well with the iPhone 4, accidentally lost or not.

But the story doesn’t ends there. According to CNET, the prototype phone was sold on Craigslist to an unknown buyer for a Price of $200. Just imagine having the prototype of a phone that could be the next iPhone in your hands while the rest of the world survives with rumors and fantasy videos.
