Apple Celebrates 5 Years Of The App Store

Posted on the 09 July 2013 by Anna Peterson

App Store was first opened on July 10, 2008, so tomorrow Apple’s App Store for iOS officially turns five years old. Apple considered this to be a golden opportunity to promote the store again, so they chose five apps and five games that previously cost money, but now, only for a limited time, you can download them for free. Also, other app publishers use this 5-year anniversary to promote their apps.

Apple Celebrates 5 Years Of The App Store

Here are all the apps & games that are for free:

APPS:

  • Day One (Journal / Diary)
  • Barefoot World Atlas
  • How to Cook Everything
  • Over (a photo editing app)
  • Traktor DJ for iPhone

GAMES:

  • Infinity Blade II
  • Super Brothers: Sword & Sworcery
  • Tiny Wings
  • Where’s My Water
  • Badland

In the beginning, the App Store had only 500 third-party apps available, but now has grown to have more than 900,000 available apps, both free and paid (these apps were downloaded more than 50 billion times!). Take this opportunity to download award-winning Infinity Blade II (check the trailer below) , Tiny Wings and Traktor DJ without paying a single dime!

As it is uncertain how long these apps will be free, we recommend you to go and download them as soon as possible. You should download them even if you do not think you need them right now, because once you have downloaded them,  they will be linked to your Apple ID and you can delete and download them later without any cost  - it will be like you have already “bought” them.
