Anybody Want an Admiral, Two for the Price of One?

By Davidduff

There was a day in the history of this 'septic isle' when our admirals commanded fleets upon which the safety of the realm utterly depended.  Today they squabble over who is to command a ship and, in view of the fact that there are now two admirals for each navy ship, presumably they take turns!  When it comes to captains, there are now thirteeen for every destroyer.  It cannot be long off when we will have enough captains to actually man a destroyer.  All this has been revealed by James Clappison, MP, who deserves a tot of rum for his industry.  Needless to say, as The Mail makes clear, the army are no better:

The revelations come after the Mail revealed two years ago that the Army had more top brass than battle tanks.

There were 256 brigadiers and generals but just 200 Challenger II tanks.

And what precisely are our obviously very clubable Chiefs of Staff doing about this colossal waste of money?  Nothing, is the answer, because they are too busy kicking out battle-experiences soldiers and sailors and their NCOs.  'Red' Len McClusky of the UNITE union should take lessons from these leeches clinging and fattening themselves on the public purse.
