Hi Metal fans! I’m going to present on MetalWind a Brazilian metal band called Ankhy, which has very interesting sound with many different influences, ranging from Melodic Death Metal to Progressive Metal, passing by Power Metal, Metalcore or Symphonic Metal.
Ankhy was formed in early 2012 by Felipe Bagatin (Felp) e Caio Vidal Nascimento (CJ) guitarist and bassist respectively. In a short time they released their self titled EP “Ankhy” and the band begins to walk in the metal world.
In this period there has several changes in the band’s line-up and Olek Nowakowski (Guitar) and Cesar Luiz (keyboards) become as Ankhy’s new members.
Ankhy began to offer concerts and increased its reputation in the Brazilian metal scene getting a great impact in the city of Curitiba. These guy are very active and after that, the band participated in the festival Rock in Santa, Santa Cecilia – Santa Catarina, alongside bands Semblant and Doomsday Ceremony, Ankhy also was the winner participating in the Matanza Fest.
After their participating in the Otacílio Rock Festival of Santa Catarina, in the city of Costa Otacílio, keyboardist Cesar Luiz left the band and Guilherme Dantas takes the keys consolidating the actual Ankhy’s line-up.
In the Ankhy EP we can find four tracks with a mixture of styles with a great result, some parts are totally pure Melodic Death Metal and two minutes later you are listening a perfect Power Metal portion that without noticing it is transformed to the next minute in a good dose of progressive sounds with a great technique, poweful melodies and amazing guitar solos.
In general I think that Ankhy’s music is very complex and it has a rich musical content. I must confess that the first time I heard to Ankhy band I thought was a very strange band, different and sometimes unclassifiable band, but very evocative and interesting with very good quality.
I think these guys are great musicians and in my opinion, the magic of Ankhy is in the rhythm changes and these marked style changes within the songs, that they leave you trapped in their poweful sound. The same is true with the voices, now are agressive Death Metal voices, a minute later they are melodic voices.
I think you should definitely listen to Ankhy and pay attention to the great sound, It is worth and I really recommend this Ankhy EP to all metalheads. Discover Ankhy band, enjoy their music and leave your comments!
