Android 4.4 KitKat is the Most Stable OS

Posted on the 31 March 2014 by Anna Peterson

Android is better than iOS and Windows Phone put together – in fact, it’s the best OS, or so a recent survey by Crittercism claims. Mind you, this only goes for Android 4.0+, specifically Android 4.4 KitKat.

The survey also showed that smartphones are more stable than tablets, with iPhone 5 and Samsung being on top of the list.

The survey tested app crash rates across devices, operating systems and networks, and, according to the company’s findings, Android 4.4 KitKat came out as the most stable OS and was crowned a winner. The survey encompassed over 2500 mobile phones, 691 mobile operators and 106 operating systems.

Apparently, Android 4.4 KitKat crashes in just 0.7% of the cases, while Android 2.3 Gingerbread crashes in 1.7%. The survey also mentions Jelly Bean and Ice Cream Sandwich (along with KitKat and Gingerbread), with a crash rate of only 0.7%, too, and all of them seem to be better than iOS. The iOS 7.1 has a crash rate of 1.6% – nearly twice as that of Android KitKat and its other versions, whereas iOS 7.0 came up with a crash rate of 2.0%. This basically means that for every app crash on Android, more than two crash on iOS.

Is Google’s Android indeed better than Apple’s iOS? We’ll let you decide.

:)
