Old Goa

I used my trip to Goa to test out the scheduling feature in wordpress and found, to my glee, that it works! Maybe the content I published wasn’t that thrilling to you, but it wasn’t meant to be thrilling, it was meant to be a quick larf. I am using this new-found knowledge of scheduling posts to preemptively create articles for you to read while I am scuttling about with my nugget backpack on my back. As you are reading this, if all has worked out, I should be on my way from Mumbai to Delhi. From there, I am joining an organised 2 week trip, and I am very happy about this. Once upon a time, I would have said I would never do one of these trips, but as I am getting to be a bit of an old lady, paying for someone to plan my hours and show me around and take me to a (hopefully) clean bed at the end of the day is something I have no problem justifying financially. Plus, when I booked the trip, I got it for 20% less, over $300 in savings. Did somebody say shoes? But seriously, the way these things work out, I will probably end up spending less on the trip than if I tried to go it alone, and I am saving myself a whole lot of headache and hassle. Knowing there is some sort of security and comfort in my future (or as you read this, my present!) is a joyous event, indeed. Heavenly days, I even paid for an airport pick up!

So here’s the most up to date schedule of my journey and the path I will be taking…

  • The 2 week trip – this entails Delhi, Jaipur, Agra (and the Taj Mahal of course), Varanasi, and some smaller towns and a sleeper train, followed by entry into Nepal and a visit to Chitwan National Park, Pokhara and Kathmandu.
  • On May 17, I fly somewhere pretty major to visit my two best friends Colin and Claire. At the end of April, they moved to Doha, Qatar, and I am to be the lucky recipient of their hospitality and companionship for 5 days! I am keen to see if one of their gifts from India gets confiscated at the airport for its scandalous nature. To be confirmed.
  • On May 22, I fly to England. I plan to visit my beloved friend Kathy in Newmarket for a couple nights. Even though her house is seriously haunted, life is too short to pass this up. Then I head to Wales to visit a friend I haven’t seen in NINE years. After that, my journey ends in Denmark with some cherished family and friends who have become family. At the time this was scheduled to be published, I still didn’t have a ticket home…

What can you expect from me while I meander?

Truthfully, I don’t know, but my own worry for the goings on at home have me at least attempting to check email once per day, so I hope to reliably be reachable by email, but I can’t speak for the dependability of the internet in India or elsewhere. I will make every effort to reply to emails and comments, but I do not promise to keep up with the blogs I read while I’m on the move. When I am more stationary at the end of May will be my chance to regroup and reacquaint myself with the internet and my favorite blogs. I also plan to continue to post photos and updates on my Facebook page and twitter feed, and when I can, I will be sharing photos via Instagram, so make sure you follow so you don’t miss any of it!

I would also like to thank you quickly for tolerating any potential glitches we may face during this process, and I do hope you stick with me!

Now… let’s go see some things!
