The new Amazon reader, Kindle Paperwhite, can be pre-ordered now with a limit of two per customer. Two versions of Kindle Paperwhite are available – WiFi (£109) and WiFi + 3G (£169). British customers should expect their device sooner than in other European countries, as shipments will begin on October 25 in the U.K. and on November 22 elsewhere.

With dimensions of 169 mm x 117 mm x 9.1 mm and 213 grams, Kindle Paperwhite comes with a capacitive 6-inch touch screen, E Ink. This screen is patented, with 212 ppi and 16 levels of gray. The “E Ink” display does not direct the light directly into your eyes, giving you much more comfortable reading experience than the previous version of the Amazon e-reader. Integrated lighting system based on technology similar to the optical fiber will enable you to read at night.

Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite e-reader is the first to have a built-in front light as opposed to a backlight, to “evenly illuminate the screen”. Users are now enabled to do something they couldn’t do with traditional Kindle models – read in the dark. Its brightness is adjustable depending on the environment, but you can always adjust it to your requirements. It is also easy and comfortable to use Paperwhite during the day and night – white is “whiter” and more similar to the white sheet of paper (hence the name of the reading light).
