Just about a few months back, I had the opportunity to learn all about AK Kerani.

AK Kerani was started by Danielle Kerani as a 19-year-old freshman in college.

Starting out, AK Kerani was just a platform to sell knit goods, which sooner then later started turning into a revolution.

Danielle had lived each day with the hopes of making the dark days of those around her better and believed that with all of her heart, that mental health is a universal pursuit.

With AK Kerani being a knit fashion company that sells handmade products, the company overall has a strict purpose behind them, to promote knitting as a therapeutic activity for those that struggle with anxiety and depression. Danielle herself has struggled with anxiety and depression, especially when she was in college and soon started AK Kerani.

Danielle, and the team behind AK Kerani further advocate for overall mental health awareness and try to promote public dialog in order to reduce stigmas surrounding mental illness.

Every single time that Danielle finishes a knit item, she feels proud of her accomplishment in transforming a standard block of yarn into something unique and beautiful.

We believe communication and empathy are the keys to this mission.

Live Bold. Live Freely. Live Candid.

Recently, Danielle has launched a new program that involves hosting a 30 minute open mental health discussion, on a topic that is relevant to the audience of AK Kerani ( mental health in the workplace; mental health for ED patients; mental health in the media etc. ).

The program is then followed by a fun break-out session where they teach their participants to knit with the supplies that they provide.

Danielle overall wants to see  how views on stigma and mental health differ between different groups of people.

Once Danielle compiles the information from the 30-minute discussions, she will have a complete new understanding around mental health, in addition to teaching some amazing individuals the wholesome skill of knitting.

For this, Danielle has launched a Kickstarter campaign, and needs your help.

My goal is to make it an understood fact that everyone, no matter where they may fall on the spectrum, needs to consciously maintain their mental health.

I will be donating to Danielle’s campaign later today, as mental health is something that is extremely close to my heart.
