Afternoon Tea @ The One & Only

By Crushland @crushland

Saturday marked another High Tea occasion, for no other reason than to enjoy unlimited dessert : ) The Mount Nelson set the bar really high so I’ll try not to compare too much. Whereas the Nellie was lavishly Victorian, down to the classical piano and fine cutlery, One & Only was more contemporary. We felt the portions were mostly too big (which isn’t ideal in a buffet situation) and not varied enough. The focus is more on desserts than actual cake. But we had stacks of plates left at the end so we clearly had a great time!

14h30 – 17h30 daily, at R145 per person, inclusive of selected teas, coffees and hot chocolate.

Granadilla Slice. A standard no-bake cheesecake.

Chocolate Mousse (i think). The texture was feathery and moussey, and the outside had a very fine ‘crust’ as if it had set. We agreed this was the Best Dessert on the table. The sour cherry was the cherry on top!
