Acupuncture and Male Fertility in Dublin

According to statistics, between 35-40% of infertility problems among couples in Dublin are caused by male conditions. Male infertility may be because of a number of reasons like obstruction in the reproductive treat, abnormal spermatogenesis, impaired sperm motility, inadequate sexual as well as ejaculatory functions. To treat this problem of infertility, men often use hormonal treatment, antioxidants, surgery and corticosterroids. But of all the treatments that are available for male fertility in Dublin, acupuncture is not usually the one that people think of primarily. But it is actually the most effective and safest treatment for infertility in modern science.

Acupuncture is proving to be very effective in helping men overcome their infertility problems by improving their sperm quality. The researchers once found that 5 weeks of acupuncture not only reduced the number of structural abnormalities in the sperm but also increased the overall number of sperm in men who had infertility issues. Many such researches have been conduced and it has thus been proved that this holistic treatment can complement traditional infertility treatments and help males reach their reproductive potential fully.

Sometimes the cause of infertility in men is not known. Research has even been conduced that looked at the effects of acupuncture on structural health of sperm in males with infertility of unknown cause. 28 infertile males received the treatment twice in seven days for 5 weeks and 12 got received no acupuncture treatment in order to serve as the comparison group. The researchers then analysed the samples of the sperm at the beginning and end of their research work and found that there were great improvements in the quality of the sperm in men who received acupuncture in comparison to the group of men who did not get the treatment.

Acupuncture treatment is thus associated with some structural defects in sperm & an increase in number of the sperm in ejaculate. However, sperm abnormalities like sperm death or immature sperm, happens to be unaffected by acupuncture.

The researchers have even claimed that acupuncture is a non-invasive, simple method, which can improve the quality of sperm.
