Yes, indeed, my titles become more and more obscure but stick with it, all will be revealed. I was tickled by the irony of reading a story on the BBC site reporting that the Australian prime minister had kicked ABC (the Australian Broadcasting Company) in the 'goolies' for being anti-Australian. Apparently he accused them of "taking everyone's side except Australia's". In an act of, er, 'Brotherly' unity, the BBC report repeated all the anti-Australian accusations being made plus plenty of quotes supporting the ABC by leaders of the opposition and the Green party. The only good news in it was a photo of the new acting-leader of the opposition Labour party, Ms. Tanya Plibersek:
Now, she is very attractive, definitely an improvement on that beaky-nosed cormorant who preceded her:
Even so, Ms. Plibersek has one final test before I can give my Imperial nod in favour - what does she sound like? 'Old Beaky' should have been had up for cruelty to the English language. I don't mind regional accents but that woman took every syllable out of every word and stretched them, twisted them and tortured them in order, I suspect, to sound 'authentic' having, I gather, been born in Wales. It's enough, I think, that we have to suffer with lisening to these socialist nincompoops gabbling nonsense but at least let it be in reasonably clear English!
