A Fab Muslim

By Kaidarul @KaiDarul

A week or two ago, I received an email from SupportFAB.com. At first, it was just a typical email to me. But when I read the whole content, I had a realisation that I should take part in this cause.

Hype on Lookbook.nu please!

Many of us has already been fashion bullied. And this cause calls for our attention. We are stronger than those bullies out there. Do not let them dictate what we should be wearing.

“Many people say that I am oppressed just because I am a Muslim and I wear the hijab and dress modestly. They say there is no freedom in this; but, to me, this is the sweetest kind of freedom that I would gladly enjoy. “

I really don’t mind people asking me “WHY THE HELL DO I WEAR HIJAB/HEADSCARF” or “AM I NOT FEELING HOT BECAUSE OF WHAT I WEAR”. They asked those things because they really don’t know the reason why I wear such things and dress in such a way. However, there are really those people who loves to scrutinize everything you are wearing. There are those who stares at you while you feel uncomfortable of such act. In the back of their minds are questions and criticisms.

There is nothing wrong with expressing ourselves. We can do it with music, art, or just simply by the way we dress. In my case, I have rules to obey. And as long as I haven’t stepped out of the line, I won’t let bullies make the fashion decisions for me. This is my life and I take care of every detail of it – even my wardrobe. Noone dictates me on what to wear and what not to wear.

If you have been a victim of fashion bullying, STAND UP, STEP OUT, and BE PROUD OF YOURSELF. We are stronger than bullies. Decisions are ours to make, not theirs.
