Wedding Planners - Tips for Building Trust with Brides

As a new wedding planner you may be concerned that you will have problems getting clients because brides won’t trust someone who is new to the business. True, a seasoned planner may be able to share more testimonials than you can but this doesn’t mean you can’t get clients. You will just need to show brides you can trustworthy.

Here are 7 ways you can build trust:

1) Take the time to learn about your target market

When brides see that you have a good understanding of who they are, they will trust that you will be able to take care of their wedding.

2) Be accessible

Make it easy for brides to contact you. Provide a phone number and email address on your website, social media accounts and all your printed marketing materials. When they do contact you, get back to them in a timely manner.

3) Have confidence in yourself

If you don’t feel good about your own skills and the services you offer, neither will the brides you want. Remember that you started your business after having success planning other weddings. Even though you just started your business, you have the valuable skills, knowledge and experience that brides need.

4) Keep your promises

Call, write and do what you say you will. This is not only when working with brides but also vendors and other professionals. (And, it’s a good thing to do in your personal life too!)

5) Respect people’s time

Prepare in advance for calls and meetings and follow an agenda. And, of course, always show up on time.

6) Don’t gossip

If brides hear you speaking about other brides, they will assume you will also talk to others about them. Keep your opinions and details about other brides to yourself. You want brides to trust that you can keep their private life private.

7) Treat everyone with respect

Whether or not a bride will be the right client for you, treat her with respect. Listen to what she has to say, look her in the eye when you speak to her and keep your cell phone off so you can give her your full attention. When you make a bride feel important, she will trust you.

Once a bride trusts you enough to hire you, maintain her trust by continuing to treat her well.
