5 Things i Don’t Do to Get Stuff Done

By Blessmybag @blessmybag

This January there's an epidemic of personalized productivity posts floating around the internet. No shame in joining the fun I say. Being a freelancer is challenging. I didn't make these 5 up just to have a post, they really work for me and I when I don't stick to them I drift badly. They're really simple but some may not have occurred to you.

5 THINGS I DON’T DO TO GET STUFF DONE

Read on about the 5 things I avoid to stay productive.

Just remember that the things we choose not to do ultimately support what we need to do.

Get out of bed as soon as you stretch. The longer you delay getting up the quicker you think about staying in bed longer. Have a separate clock in view, phone mostly doesn't count.

Getting up and knowing what day (better to have a real calendar beside your clock) and time it is the moment you open your eyes is the start and starting is always half the battle. Lots of people don't use watches anymore but having a standalone clock in each room is a very helpful thing.

If I do I fall back significantly and I drift emotionally then the "why me" thoughts begin nesting in my hair. I do switch between night and day depending, but I try as much as possible to make sure not a day goes past that I haven't prayed and read Jesus' Word.

The reason we think prayer TAKES UP TIME is we don't 100% believe in it being a natural catalyst for the supernatural.Making time for prayer tackles your heart, mind, and the day for the better and God is the God of time.He can always choose to give back what you sacrifice for His sake.

3. DON'T SCROLL SOCIAL MEDIA BEFORE YOUR ACTUAL TEXTS AND EMAILS

Easier said than done but it would make a WORLD of difference if everyone paid attention to their own business first before everyone else's. Shoo social media for a few moments when updating yourself on the day's tasks.5 THINGS I DON’T DO TO GET STUFF DONE

If it helps any...better to check your emails on a desktop device at a table or one in a shop...sitting upright to see tasks at hand instead of just checking those important emails in bed is more likely to get your wheels rolling and stuff done quicker.

4. DON'T LEAVE THE HARD TASKS AND BILLS FOR LATER

This is always a bad idea. This never adds peace on top of the work pile. When I felt I had an insurmountable heap of tax errors last year when I filed my own ITR after getting my stomach into a knot and a good cry I broke down the tasks of the whole big thing that had to be done into steps with check boxes. It was the only way to make myself believe I could do it. This is safe to show because it's all fixed already from last year in my old planner.

Looking at tasks one by one in your notebook (you can cover bottom tasks with a Post-it and move it down accordingly) and completing them 1 at time unloaded a weight of panic that was on me. This was all written last year. Then when I was done I could do the easy tasks.Always put big tasks on the chopping board first. You can do digital doesn't matter, what matters is the steps are broken down. A nice app for to dos and lists that Caroline Hirons recommended was Paperless she said, that one is iOS only though.

5. DON'T FORGET TO DRINK water or real juice and go when you need to go.Water and beneficial liquids just make everything flow, thoughts included. If you misguidedly think those bathroom breaks interrupt everything, yes they might, but just think that as a whole drinking regularly will keep you in the race longer with your radiator cool and all.

Those bathroom breaks quite frankly extend your existence and prevent UTI. Tipco juice here tastes just like a less acidic orange juice, I don't taste the carrot. They also have a broccoli version that tastes like apple juice. Real juice also doesn't have to be expensive either. If you don't want to buy packaged juices you can take just a few minutes to make real calamansi juice and put it in a pitcher to chill with ice or in the refrigerator if you have one.

Hope you found this helpful! Now I've given myself another checkbox, to practice what I just preached.
