They say, you are what you eat, but is that really true?
I almost always notice the biggest change in my skin from when I go from eating ‘healthy’ foods to ‘greasy’ foods.
Whenever I eat ‘greasy’ foods, the breakouts begin, and my skin starts to get real oily out of nowhere, and when I eat fruits and vegetables regularly, I do notice that my skin becomes brighter, and more visible with less breakouts.
So, with that being said, i’ve rounded up F I V E foods that are said to be the healthiest for your skin.
1. Strawberries
Strawberries are said to have more anti-aging vitamin C per serving than oranges or grapefruit and studies show that people who eat foods rich in vitamin C have fewer wrinkles and less age-related dry skin than those who don’t. Vitamin C also fights free radicals, which damage cells and break down collagen, leading to fine lines.
2. Pomegranates
Pomegranates are one of the most antioxidant-rich fruits.
The fruit’s juice has more inflammation-fighting antioxidants than red wine or green tea. You can use pomegranate as a age-fighting scrub and apply it once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells.
3. Kale
Kale is one of the best sources of lutein and zeaxanthin, and it has nutrients that absorb and neutralize free radicals, which is created by UV light. This includes the wavelengths that actually get through sunscreen and reach your skin.
4. Tomatoes
Tomatoes have a antioxidant called “lycopene“, which improve your skin’s natural SPF.
5. Chickpeas
Chickpeas are said to reduce inflamed pimples and red spots. They also are low on the “glycemic index” since they’re rich in protein and fiber, which are two nutrients that slow down your digestion and lower your blood sugar response.
