1. If you have oily skin you shouldn't use facial oils. FALSEI absolutely adore a good facial oil and I am not the only one. These multitasking products aren't just for dryer skin types. Facial oils actually have the power to help balance the oil on the face. Crazy I know but to put it simply, when the oil is on your face it can actually send messages to your skin not to produce as much oil. Oils also assist in healing scaring and hydrating the skin.
When it comes to picking an oil for myself, rosehip oil is my absolute fave (but hard to come by in the UK) as it is super hydrating and healing. My runner up at the minute is The Body Shop Vitamin E Serum in Oil.
2. When your skin feels tingly, cool, or tight after cleansing it means the product is really cleaning your skin.FALSEAh, a myth I fell for when I was young and uneducated (before I studied Beauty Therapy). I often used facial wipes that left my face so tingly I thought it must have been doing wonders for my skin. Wrong! Yes, it may be cleansing your skin but makeup and dirt is not the only thing being stripped off that face of yours, your skins pH and natural oils are being stripped off too. If this feeling occurs ditch the product that is causing it at once.
4. Pluck 1 gray hair and more will grow back with it.FALSEEach hair has its own hair follicle from which it grows. 1 follicle = 1 hair. It is actually impossible to create more hair follicles from plucking or waxing, for that matter. Imagine how much hairier your whole body would be if one was a regular waxer and this were true. Hello werewolf city.
5. The best place to store you perfume is in the refrigerator.FALSEKeeping your fragrances in a cool dark place will really prolong the life of your product. However just as extreme heat will damage your fragrance product, so will rather cool conditions. So if you shouldn't store them in your refrigerator than where should they be kept?
Do store fragrances in cool, dry spaces away from sunlight. Think cupboards, dresser drawers and dark closets.
Don't store fragrances in bathrooms (as they are generally moist and warm), on windowsills, or in direct sunlight. Basically just imagine that the little bottle of liquid your wear to smell good is a little vampire that will die in the sun!Do you have any beauty myths that need debunking?
