19 Reasons “Smart” Meters Are NOT Smart

1. Smart meters emit harmful radiation-emitting radio frequencies (RF). 
2. W.H.O. classifies RF as a carcinogen in the same category as DDT. 
3. The RF emissions occur 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 
4. Every day citizens cannot measure the amounts of RF emissions because they do not have the equipment to measure it. 
5. Canada’s research indicates that the RF emissions affect the blood-brain barrier. 
6. Utility companies research this area and state that the evidence is weak, but this is because they have millions of dollars at stake. Non-utility companies who do research come out with results that indicate the harm that the RF emissions have on the public. 
7. Our privacy is limited, as the SM data forms a “diary” of household electrical activities that observes the type of energy that we use. Insurance and government agencies can have easy access to this information, invading our privacy. 
8. As the “electrical diaries” go forth, more and more marketers are gaining access to the data of our usage habits and increasing marketing efforts accordingly. 
9. Smart meters are at high risk for hacker interference, increasing the ability for our utility use to be interrupted. 
10. Statistics are in concerning RF emissions. Between 265,000 and 663,000 BC Citizens have Electro Hypersensitivity (EHS), which means that wireless pollution sickens them continually. Many more suffer and don’t even know why they are sick. 
11. Electro Sensitivity (ES) will increase due to the 24-7 RF emissions and overexposure. 
12. Not only will people’s health be altered, they will have to spend extra money on RF shields to keep them safer.
13. The conversion of the power causes harmonic distortion within electrical systems, which is called “Dirty Electricity”. This increases the chance of cancer. 
14. The requirement of smart meter installation takes away our constitutional freedom: it is undemocratic. 
15. If the W.H.O. states that RF emissions contribute to cancer, it is a big red flag that must be stopped. 
16. Faulty smart meters that have been recalled have cost thousands of dollars and have caused plenty of headaches for homeowners. 
17. Smart meters are a fire hazard, as they can interfere with arc-fault circuit interrupters. 
18. Renters do not have a choice as to whether smart meters can be installed or not. 
19. Smart meters are not environmentally friendly and the millions of dollars invested in them could be better used to invest in eco-friendly ideas.
