You all know I love trying new workouts, which is one of the reasons I love Reebok’s new FitHub in Union Square. They offer so many amazing classes, all for free! Check out all the details here.

I was there last week for a yoga class with Tara Stiles, and went back a few days later for a class with J2FIT!

A little background on J2FIT:
They are a team of badass Reebok Ambassadors that teach classes and do one-on-one training. J2FIT training has the capacity to prepare you for athletic competitions and special events such as Spartan Races, Civilian Military Combine, Tough Mudders, etc. They’re driven by the principles and applications of strength and conditioning, Olympic Weightlifting, sport and movement specific training, cardiovascular endurance training, and kinesiology.

To prepare for the class, Reebok sent me some more amazing gear from their Reebok One Series! Check it out!

  • Reebok One Series Fitted Capri
  • Reebok One Series Printed Tee
  • Reebok One Series Strappy Bra

I was most excited, however about the Reebok ZQuick shoes! I mean, how cool are these? The colors? Love!

I wore these to the class, and was amazed at how light they are! They are a little tight on my wide toe box, but I’m hopeful they’ll get broken in. Here the deets on these bad boys:

  • No-sew upper and bootie fit system for comfort with NanoWeb tech for locked-in support (NanoWeb – sounds so snazzy!)
  • Low-cut for mobility with Injection molded EVA midsole for lightweight cushioning (not sure what have this stuff is, but cool!)
  • Inspired by sports car tires, the Z-rated midsole geometry is designed for improved handling and traction (love me some sport-tire-like traction, especially when I run on those icy NYC sidewalks in the winter)
  • Gas fueled Carbonated Foam for a light, cushioned and responsive ride (Gas fueled? Does that mean these shoes have some awesome mpg? Aka, will they make me faster?!)
  • Underfoot grooves let the midsole to flex and expand for extra ground contact and a smooth ride (smooth sailing)
  • CRTek rubber only in high wear areas for lightweight durability (what they said)

So much science! Check out this video for more!

Well hello there, @Reebok ZQuick sneaks! Can you get on my feet, please? Thanks!

Alright, so I now that I have all the proper attire, it was time to get my sweat on! I headed to Reebok Fit Hub USQ nice and early for a 7am class. After a quick introduction to all the awesome J2Fit trainers, we were ready for a warmup. A few lunges, some planking, a lot of dynamic moves to get our bodies moving and our blood flowing.

Then they broke us into a few lines and we worked our way through sets of 3 different exercises. The goal was to get all your reps done (with proper form, of course) as fast as possible. I started with plank row twists, raising a dumbbell up to the ceiling. See if you can spot me doing them in this video. Then I moved straight over to kettle bell exercise (this was my first real experience with kettle bells, believe it or not!). The move involved squatting down and then standing up and thrusting the kettle bell into the air overhead. Last but not least was pushups. By the last set, I was struggling to finish all my pushups!

After that, we split into teams for a team challenge. The first person on each team started doing mountain climbers. Once they hit 40, they would move on to the second exercise (jump squats), and the second person would start on the mountain climbers. The point was that the person in front of you had to complete the move to “unlock” it before you could start doing it. So you had to move fast! The moves went like this:

  1. 40 mountain climbers
  2. 30 jump squats
  3. 20 medicine mall slams
  4. 10 burpees
  5. Run outside to a meeting point, do 15 kettle bell swings, run back inside, and DONE!

I’m not sure what place my team came in because no one was really keeping track, but it was fun (and sweaty)! I got to meet another great blogger who was on my team: Laurel (one half of the blogging duo at wassnertwins.com). She’s a pretty awesome (and SUPER athletic) chick. Definitely check out her blog (and her photos!).

Then it was time for a quick cool down, and it was off to shower and work for me. But first, look how beast we are:

All in all, another amazing class at Reebok FitHub USQ! Again, if you’re in the NYC area, I highly recommend checking it out and signing up for some free classes.
