Fit & Fashionable Friday: Winter Running Pieces to Love

By Fitfulfocus @fitfulfocus

You. Guys. I thought Friday would never come this week. I went out for dinner and drinks with a friend on Monday night (I rarely go out on weekday nights), and I think that threw me off all week. Case & point: I came into work the next day thinking it was Friday. It was Tuesday. #fail.

Anyway, now it is Friday, which means it’s time for one of my favorite posts of the week: the Fit & Fashionable Friday link up! (full details on the link up/rules here).

On this fine, fashionably fit day, I’d like to chat about another thing I’ve been failing at: running in the cold. IDK what’s wrong with me. Last year, I ran outside in the wind, the ice, the sub zero temps. This year, I’m like, “30 degrees?! Looks like I’m hitting the treadmill.” It’s bad, people, and it can’t go on.

I started half marathon training this week, which means my first long run is this weekend. I’m determined to do my long runs outside. So in an attempt to get myself amped about running outside this weekend, I’m using this Fit & Fashionable Friday post to chat about cold weather running gear I love. If I can look cute while I freeze my butt off, it’ll be worth it right? RIGHT! Ok, here are five of my favorite get-my-butt-out-and-run-in-the-winter pieces!

Five Winter Running Pieces to Love via Fitful Focus #running #fitnfashionable #winterfashion #fitfashion

UnderArmour ColdGear Infrared Core Liner Glove – When it’s nippy out, you gotsta keep those extremities warm. I have a good pair of active gloves like these. They protect my little fingers from frostbite and are touch screen compatible, so I can still use my Garmin and my iPhone. Yey for technologically savvy fingers!

Coal Greer Headband – I have a headband just like this one and I love it! It keeps my ears toasty without giving me hat head. Bonus? The pop of color is a bit of an F-you to the dreary gray winter days. Headband with attitude. That’s how I roll.

UnderArmour ColdGear Leggings – I will not run in the cold without my UnderArmour Leggings. I don’t have this exact pair but pretty close. They’re tough to get on because they’re tight, but that just means they’re locking all the cold out!

Reebok ZQuick Dash Shoes– Ok, I know these are a little obnoxious, butttt winter time running usually means running in the dark. A girl’s gotta stand out so that the cars and other passersby won’t crash right into her, right? I don’t think anyone will miss me in these babies. More info on Reebok ZQuick shoes here.

Lorna Jane Excel Zip Through – Winter running means lots of layers, which is really just an excuse for cute jackets like this one from Lorna Jane (love Lorna). Adorable. If it’s especially fridgid, I usually wear a long sleeve cold weather top, a sweat wicking jacket, AND a sweatshirt. Then I pull the sweatshirt hood over my head and tie it tight like a babushka. Look how attractive:
