Hello lovelies,

color4nails have started to carry Zoya. Naturally, I had to order some. Today I’ll swatch the nail polishes from Zoya’s Magical Pixie collection – this collection features 3 texture nail polishes with chunky glitter. I picked Cosmo and Lux. I didn’t quite like Vega, but now I’m a bit sorry for not getting this one, too.

Cosmo:

FORMULA and APPLICATION: Thin and packed with glitter, but relatively easy to work with. I had some trouble with the bigger glitter which didn’t want always to stay where I placed it. The first coat is sheer – I prefer to add a second coat; even then it is not truly opaque (but that can be seen only on close-up photos). When it comes to application, I’d suggest two thin coats to get the best results.

COLOUR and FINISH: It is a sliver shimmery texture with big hexagonal glitter which has a holographic sheen to it. That holographic effect and sparkliness are  very hard to capture on the photos. In real life it is blindingly sparkly. The texture finish is very rough – even rougher than the finish of glittery Golden Rose Holiday nail polishes. Even two thicker coats of Seche Vite didn’t even it out completely.

MY COMMENT: It is a good thing that I don’t mind rougher textures because I’m so much in love with this nail polish that I plan to wear it quite often.

Swatches – 2 coats, no base or top coat.

FORMULA and APPLICATION: It is slightly thicker, but more sheer than Cosmo. I had the same issues as I did with Cosmo (the glitter didn’t want to stay where I wanted it). This nail polish is still pretty sheer in two coats, so I’d suggest adding a third one.

COLOUR and FINISH: It is a sparkly pale pink with bigger hexagonal glitters which have a holographic sheen to it. It is so much nicer in real life – the photos do not do this one a justice. The texture is the same as the texture of Cosmo – very chunky and rough.

MY COMMENT: These Magical Pixie dust nail polishes didn’t get a lot of love, but they both are in my Top 20 nail polishes.

Swatches – 2 coats, no base or top coat

Did you get anything from this collection?
