YLG - You Look Good is spa and salon chain which started in 2009 by Rahul Bhalchandra and Rajeev Bopaiah. YLG Salon have introduced the European Light Therapy (ELT). By using light, the therapy promises to rejuvenate the skin and give it a guaranteed glow. ELT uses basically two kind of lights - Blue and/or Red. Blue light helps fighting acne causing bacteria and also helps in removal of blackheads and helps in maintaining PH balance of he skin. Red Light helps in improved blood circulation, treats pigmentation and evens out the skin tone.

YLG Salon at a glance and my Experience
I went to YLG salon in Besant Nagar, Chennai. As I entered the salon I saw that it was very spacious and tidy. It was very brightly lighted up and squeaky clean. There are separate areas for hair services, mani- pedi section and facial section. They even have a separate room for waxing. I noticed that the facial were spacious as compared to the salon in this price range. They even have lockers where I secured my bag and camera.
ELT Equipment
My consultant offered me tea/coffee when I reached and after that she gave me a form to fill which included most of the information she would need to know my skin better. Then she analysed my skin and suggested me to go for Gold Facial. Then she took me to the facial room and got me changed into spa clothes.
The facial started with scrub followed by the usual steps. My consultant told that she used red light for my skin which would help the creams and scrubs to penetrate deep inside my skin. The blackhead/ white head removal process is the most dreaded part for me. As I have loads of whiteheads ( I intentionally didnt use anything to remove them from three days prior to facial as I wanted to check the efficiency) so I was waiting for that part. And to my surprise it was painless. Consultant told me that the light therapy helps to clear whiteheads and blackheads without applying any external pressure. Facial ended with a face mask.
Few points of consideration:
- Gold Facial lasted for 60 mins and was priced at INR 2500.
- There was no messy ice or water application with creams making there way into the hair line.
- I wish the lights and music in the facial room were dimmer/ softer which would enhance the relaxation.
- The therapist was very neat and was peculiar about hygiene as she wore a face mask. I never felt her breadth touching my face, which is very common in another salons.
- The facial is very good. I can notice my skin is glowing and I dont feel dry at all. Whiteheads have reappeared after 3 days (they always do).
- The one thing I desperately wanted was a back massage, which was missing from the ritual. Lakme always includes a short back massage with this ranged facials.
- I would surely go back as I liked the whole ambiance a lot.
