In our house, finding the "perfect pillow" has been a lifelong pursuit. Some are horrible right out of the wrapper, while others lose their appeal quickly thereafter. Our frequent nights of poor sleep - for various reasons that include insomnia, snoring, neck pain, wrist pain, tingling fingers and migraines - are usually attributed to terrible pillow conditions. In fact, don't open the closet in the guest room because it's become the discarded pillow storage facility.
I was just telling someone that when I wake up in the morning, I'm usually so tired that my eyes won't even open. I"m not kidding - they won't open! When I was in Cleveland and my grandson would come wake me up at some horribly early time, he would use his fingers to pry my eyes open because I'd be talking to him but both of my eyes wouldn't open! (He's 4 and it was really cute actually.)
When I saw this XTreme Comfort Shredded Memory Foam Pillow with Kool-Flow Micro-Vented Bamboo Cover by XTreme Comfort open for review, I signed up and was very happy that I was accepted since I'm always pretty hopeful. When the XTreme Comfort Shredded Memory Foam Pillow with Kool-Flow Micro-Vented Bamboo Cover arrived, I was slightly apprehensive about the quality of this pillow. I'm pretty sure you might feel the same if you received your pillow like this:
I'll admit it - when it arrived, I was a little bit freaked out thinking "how could this be a pillow? do I inflate it or something" And then I realized it was shrink-wrapped. As I unwrapped (and unrolled) the cellophane, I was almost shocked to watch the pillow "grow" right before my eyes. The pillow expanded to full size instantly. (Afterwards, of course, I was wishing I had videotaped it because it was so awesome to watch.)
The way a "regular pillow" works for me is that I "shape" the pillow to give good support but as the pillow collapses and heats up, my support goes away, which in turn, puts stress on the nerves and causes insomnia, tossing, turning and then flipping the pillow to the cooler side. I could tell that the XTreme Comfort Shredded Memory Foam Pillow with Kool-Flow Micro-Vented Bamboo Cover wasn't going to be like that right away. While laying down, the memory foam stays full instead of sinking down. In fact, with the XTreme Comfort Shredded Memory Foam Pillow with Kool-Flow Micro-Vented Bamboo Cover, when I got up, the indentation from where I was sleeping immediately went away and the pillow popped right back into place. I already knew I loved the shredded memory foam and I am so happy with the bamboo cover.
Personally I'm a side sleeper, and I really love the way this pillow stays shaped to my head and neck and seems to maintain good support all night long providing a better night of uninterrupted sleep. If you are like me, I think this might be the most comfortable pillow that you will ever own.
