What a dull, dark, wet day. After last weekend's temperatures, I was starting to imagine a sunny and warm winter. Unfortunately, the grey day today has woken me up from that dream. Since I know there is going to be snow on the ground before December 1st and I'll be locking myself up for the 5 month hibernation, I figured what'd be better than cuddling up under blankets with textbooks and writing assignments and hot cocoa - not much. Which is why I registered in Intro to Fashion Writing class!
You heard that right. Yours truly will be going back to online l'ecole to gain insights into writing about my fave subject matter. You'll get to hear all about it. Lucky you! I'm tres excited... First lecture was last night and my first assignment is due next week. I have to review a collection on style.com and write a 500 word piece about it in the style of Cathy Horyn of The New York Times and Suzy Menkes of International Herald Tribune. Tonight, I'll be glued to my laptop figuring out which designer to review and reading 20th Century Fashion: 100 years of Style by Decade and Designer... why?
Because...
“Criticism is a serious intellectual act. It tries to evaluate serious works of art and to place them in the context of what has been done before in that medium or by that artist.” – William Zissner, author of On Writing Well.
Until next time....
Enjoy,
