BOHOL BEACH CLUB
The recently-refreshed Bohol Beach Club has a sizeable foreign clientele, so its general manager, Mr. Allan Santos, makes sure that the dishes the resort’s restaurants serve up are representative of our unique Filipino heritage.
That they have succeeded in executing this culinary vision is an understatement, to say the least. Imagine fresh seafood cooked the same day, complemented by classic Filipino dishes. My favorites include their fresh kinilaw (ceviche), calamares (calamari), and tinolang halaan (clams in a ginger-based broth).
OCEANICA RESTAURANT AT SOUTH PALMS RESORT PANGLAO
Our friends from South Palms Resort Panglao invited us over for lunch, so of course, we had to oblige! The owners of the resort also manage a prawn farm; thus, we were treated to a three-course meal at Oceanica Restaurant that included a salad and two entrees. Because the prawns were caught the same day and their kitchen is adept in handling the sea critter, the dishes indubitably were fresh and flavorful.
Not to be missed is their Prawn Mango Salad—a refreshing medley of ripe mangoes, grilled prawns, mixed greens, and crispy wantons. It’s best with their unique Peanut Kisses Shake.
BOHOL BEE FARM
Although free-range and organic are two terms found in the menu of Bohol Bee Farm’s restaurant, the place is far from pretentious. As a matter of fact, it is known all over for its wholesome, tasty food that do not necessarily break the bank.
We had their mouthwatering ribs, steak, and grilled chicken, but the standouts from their menu that must be had are their squash bread and their beautiful Organic Garden Salad topped with flower petals. We ended the meal with classic puto maya (rice cake) with mangoes and tablea (cocoa), and their famous homemade ice cream.
