Why Don’t People Talk About Suicide and Depression?

By Gran13

Why don’t we talk about suicide and depression?

WHY? Because of the stigma. A few people have told me that if they speak out about the fact that they suffer from a depression, their friends and relatives will think that they are’ crazy’,  and subsequently will shy away from them. This is simply not true.

How come we accept the fact that some people are alcoholics ? I remember a time when we did not talk about alcoholism but we do now. So maybe there is hope on the horizon for depression.

Because suicide is so misunderstood by most of us, the myths are perpetuated. STIGMA preveents people from getting the assistance that they need and prevents society from learning more about what lies behind suicide and depression.

IF ONLY WE COULD ALL BE EDUCATED ON THE ABOVE SUBJECTS, MANY LIVES WOULD BE SAVED.

To be challenged in life is inevitable but to be defeated, is optional.
