"Where Were You?"

By Thedublindiary @TheDublinDiary
Last Thursday I was delighted to attend the launch of an exhibition entitled "Where Were You?" in The Little Museum of Dublin. The exhibition is an extension of a book of the same name by Garry O'Neill and is a collection of pictures taken around Dublin from the 1950's to the turn of the century. The pictures document the street styles and youth culture of the time and are a vibrant social commentary on the city through the last few decades of the twentieth century.

Displayed on the walls you'll find pictures of skin heads, punks, teddy boys as well as revelers in some of Dublin's most famous dance halls and night clubs. Below are a few of my favorite pictures from the exhibition.

Dancing the night away, obviously oblivious to the camera!

A work colleague explained to the what A.C.A.B. meant! You can file this one in the irony section!

At first glance I thought these were two women! Love the old Evening Press logo in the background.

Two very cool teddy boys!

This picture just makes me smile!

The exhibition will only run until January 5th 2014 so get in soon and check it out. I can't wait to go back and have a closer look. While you're at the museum it's well worth taking a look around the permanent collection or going on one of the fantastic curator tours. I was there earlier in the year and really loved it. So quirky and unusual!
