What to Read This Week

By Crossstitchyourheart @TMNienaber

Here are the books I’m adding to my to-read list this week and think you should too!

What to Read this Week
A Fatal Likeness by Lynn Shepherd: I received an ARC of this book from Random House through NetGalley and am very, very excited to start reading it.  This is the sequel to Solitary House (which I haven’t actually read yet…) and takes place in Victorian England (which, yes, is one of the biggest reasons I picked this novel to review).  Detective Charles Maddox is summoned to the house of Mary and Percy Shelley to help their son discover the authenticity of documents that supposedly belonged to his father.  The book will be published August 20th but is still available for request on NetGalley if you just can’t wait.

Enon: A Novel by Paul Harding: I’ll admit it…I have a thing for

Random House books, and they must not totally hate me because this is another NetGalley book I’ve been approved to review.  I was first attracted to this novel because they compare Harding to Faulkner and I’m interested to see if the comparison holds up.  The novel follows a year in the life of Charlie Crosby as he comes to terms with personal tragedy, set in the background of New England.  You can’t deny Harding’s writing ability as he is a Pulitzer Prize winner, but I’m most excited to see Faulkner style writing set in New England rather than the deep South.

What to Read this Week
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman: Sadly, no this is not a book I got for free on NetGalley and it is not a Random House publication which breaks the streak for this week.  Set in Sussex, England a man returns to his childhood home and remembers his past with a girl named Lettie Hempstock, a past that is strange, frightening, and dangerous, all in traditional Gaiman style.  I love Neil Gaiman and his most recent book (published earlier this month) sounds like it will live up to his legacy in spectacular fashion.

Any books you think need to be added to my to-read list?  Post them in the comments section.
