Madame Tussauds Singapore is housed under a 2,260 square meter building that it will share with Images of Singapore LIVE, a classic attraction in Sentosa currently being updated for its comeback soon. The two will be linked by a boat ride called The Spirit of Singapore, which, however, is already operational when I went.
The Spirit of Singapore boat ride encapsulates the essence of Singapore through its history and symbols that include the Supertrees, Formula 1, Chinese opera, Singapore Flyer, and the Merlion.
After the boat ride is the link to Madame Tussauds Singapore, which has five themed sections, namely History and Leaders, Film, Sport, Music, and the special A-List Party. Each showcases distinguished figures and celebrities from Singapore, Asia, and the world. There’s also a Behind the Scenes section that chronicles Madame Tussaud’s beginnings in Baker Street, London.
The exciting part is, of course, to get up close to the wax figures. Among the leaders on display are Queen Elizabeth, Mao Zedong, Nelson Mandela, and the Dalai Lama, and dominating the courts are Cristiano Ronaldo, Yao Ming, Sebastian Vettel, and Venus Williams. Their red carpet, meanwhile, has been rolled out for the likes of Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Elvis Presley, Madonna, Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Lee, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Johnny Depp, Nicole Kidman, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Leonardo diCaprio.
The wax figures are impressively recreated to match the smallest details from the scale of the body parts to the eyes and body hair. For instance, Angelina Jolie’s body tattoos—things we don’t see in magazines—have been etched onto her figure’s back.
All the figures are interactive, meaning they can be held and examined for details. Plus, they’ve been positioned strategically for selfies and photo ops—you can even be a guest at Oprah’s TV show set and have breakfast at Tiffany’s across Audrey Hepburn.
