I ask b/c I’m an ex-Christian atheist, and as a once believing Christian, the most insane and crazy parts of the bible are in the OT. Reading it, I ask myself how can anyone believe in a religion based on it? Lots of genocide.
Jews of course claim that their religion somehow transcends the Torah or something, and it is a religion of peace and love. They revere Moses even though he called for the rape and slaughter of the Midianites.
I’m an atheist but Ive thought about a religion based on the NT, no OT, plus Buddhism.

Those Jewish Sanhedrin tyrants were the ones who killed Jesus, a rebellious Jew who went on to form a new religion that split off from Judaism, a religion based on mercy where the old Judaism was based on tribalism, vengeance and war. The Sanhedrin were corrupt, totalitarian and cruel. The spiritual descendants of the Sanhedrin went on to become today’s practitioners of Judaism.
It is traditional in the Jewish religion to say that Jesus was a Jewish heretic who was charged with heresy, convicted and justly sentenced to death. Traditionalist Jews not only take responsibility for his death but they cheer it on. Modern Judaism is Talmudic Judaism. The Talmud is one messed up book. It is full of all sorts of sick and evil things. I assure you that Modern Judaism does not transcend the Torah in any way, unless it transcends it to move to the Talmud, which is even worse. And you can be your sweet bippie that Judaism is not a religion of peace and love. But Reform Judaism has the best potential to be a progressive religion.
I am not extremely wild about religion in general, but Judaism is probably one of the worst religions of them all, up there with Islam. I think Hinduism is worse than either of the former though.
