What I Do When I Run Out of Moisturizer?

By Shoppingaholic @shoppingaholicc

It's big question!! What should we do when we run out of our moisturizers? Duh! find the replacements that can be used every now and then instead of a moisturizer, then go and buy your moisturizer.
I'll tell you what I do and you tell me if it matches your tricks. Before I talk about my tricks, I will tell you the type of my skin:

  • My skin has large pores around my nose, on nose and chin (that I was able to control, I'll tell you how in next post.) and small pores on forehead.
  • I have oily and sensitive skin. But it BADLY needs hydration and always in need of water/gel based moisturizer.

Now, about the replacement moisturizers:
1. Use Oil / Vegetable Oil:My personal favorite oils are:

Virgin Olive Oil - For its hydrating qualities, and suiting the best to all skin types. I would specifically alk about oily skin because they are doubted to be not suitable with oils.

Sunflower Seed Oil - For the same qualities as virgin olive oil. But to me it is easily available in kitchen. Our very own refined oil.

Castor Oil - It's thick, it has healing power and this oil is magical. To me, this is the only thing that works the way you want it to. Use it in hair and it will grow them long as you want, use it in lashes and it will grow them in right proportion and not like your hair, use it on eyebrows and it will make them dense and dark like an eyebrow should be and use it on face and it will dissolve all impurities, blemishes and give your face a healthy glow. But I don't use this oil without a carrier oil like Sunflower Seed Oil or Virgin Olive Oil. Sometimes coconut oil. Girls with dry skin should use less castor oil and more carrier oils.

Coconut Oil - This oil has anti-aging properties. Now tell me who doesn't want it. This is an economical oil which is not heave on your pockets. Love it. Suitable to all skin types.
2. Cleansing Milk: This is one of the best replacement of moisturizers for oily skin girls. I take it on my palm, warm it with both hands and massage my face with it. Wash and pat dry afterwards. This formula has never broke me out. My favorite cleansing milk is Garnier Daily Care Gentle Cleansing Milk.

3. Unboiled Milk: I have lost the counts how many times I have mentioned this. But it will remain my favorite till I die. Unboiled milk is a magical formula for all skin types that keeps your skin clean, hydrated and glowing. Use it with cotton and if you wish, please take a shower. but don't let your mom know that you are planning to take a shower with it. You might be seen sitting above with Cleopatra who also bathed in milk - goat milk.

4. Aloe Vera Pulp: Everybody believes in it, so do I. The only pet peeve - it is darn bitter thing I have ever tasted apart from Neem and Bitter Gourd. It has a funny smell to that I kind of avoid sniffing by not breathing with my nose. But what can I do? This is the best!!

5. Water / Drinking Water: Last but not the least. Drink plenty of water every day. This really makes a difference and you'd need less miniaturization for your skin. Water detoxes your body by flushing toxins and keeping your skin hydrated and healthy.

But all 5 points mentioned above should not stop you from buying your moisturizer that works for you. It's a necessity.
Do tell me what works for you when you run out of your moisturizer?
