Introduction

Psychometric tests are certain scientific methods used to measure individuals' mental capabilities and behavioural styles. These tests are designed so as to measure a candidate's suitability for a role based on the required personality characteristics along with aptitude or cognitive abilities. Basically these tests are used to identify whether a candidate's personality and cognitive abilities or aptitude matches the requirement or not. Employers use these psychometric tests so as to collect information or certain hidden aspects of the candidates which they generally are not able to extract from face to face interviews. Though some job applicants believe that psychometric tests are not a good measure to assess their real abilities, personality traits and suitability for the job.

Moving further let's understand more about psychometric tests

  • As mentioned before they are done for assessing the abilities of a job candidate and are done by the employer.
  • Some candidates are in favour of these tests but others are biassed.
