Vengaya Pakoda(onion Fritters)/ Onion Thool Pakoda

By Harini
Vengaya pakoda(onion fritters)/ Onion Thool pakodaI am very happy to share my most favorite snack item here.Vengaya pakoda(deep fried onion fritters) also known as thool pakoda is one classic snack of Tamil cuisine. Thool means small pieces in Tamil ,this pakoda is just fried with out any particular shape and hence the name. You will find small carts in almost every corner of a street selling this in paper cones, though one may not prefer to eat such deep fried snacks from the street, lemme tell you these are dangerously addictive. The dough made of gram flour and rice flour makes this snack very crispy, while ginger and green chillies add the to spice factor and the best part is the deep fried onions become slightly sweetish and the flavors are perfectly balanced. The other day we made these when my chithi visited and I fell in love this as always :). Try these vegan snack item, though deep fried,we should not miss such indulgences once in a while :)

1.There is no need to add oil/ghee to the onion, the above proportion of flour makes very crispy pakodas
2.For a different taste try adding chaat masala in the flour mix
