panna cotta recipe - dessert made with cream,an Italian dessert served with plum sauce and pomegranate kernels.

This is such an easy recipe where you can make it in minutes with enough ingredients.The only ingredient you need is the setting ingredient which may be either gelatin or agar agar.Both are available in the form of strips and powder form,use it which one is comfortable with you.Thought of making panna cotta recipe for this season and finally sticks to the red white theme,so made plum sauce from plums and sugar.Chocolate panna cotta which is another delicacy,i made that a year back for our anniversary and the i used flavored agar powder in that recipe.

You can make any kinda sauce or coulis to serve with like strawberry,raspberry or a simple chocolate sauce.I did not added sugar in the panna cotta recipe,so you can taste the sweetness only from the sauce,Serve this dessert either in glass or pour in mould and demould it after setting.Cook and add the agar agar powder according to your cream and milk content,otherwise it will not give the wobble effect.I want this melt in mouth consistency,so added little less than it requires and set it refrigerator for an hour.I used half milk and half cream quantity,you can also make it as a full cream panna cotta or using milk only in the recipe.lets move on making the recipe.,

Ingredients

  • milk + cream - 1 cup
  • agar agar powder- 1 teaspoon
  • plums,chopped - 1 cup
  • sugar - as needed
  • vanilla essence - 1 to 2 drops
  • pomegranate kernels - as needed for topping
Instructions
  1. In a sauce pan , bring the milk and cream together into boiling point.Add the agar agar powder and whisk it till it dissolves completely.Add vanilla essence for extra flavor.
  2. Whisk it till it combined well and start to thickening.Transfer it to the serving dish and set it in refrigerator for few minutes.
  3. Now in another sauce pan,mix together plums and sugar and cook till the plums looks mushy.Add little water if needed.
  4. Switch off the flame once it comes to chunky saucy consistency.Cool it before topping.
  5. Pour the sauce over the panna cotta.top it with some pomegranate kernels and serve.
