Vag·i·nis·mus

By Painfreesex @painfreesex

What a word. An elaborate way for defining a 'painful spasmodic contraction of the vagina in response to physical contact or pressure (esp. in sexual intercourse). I've had vaginismus for as long as I can remember and have spent the last decade in (not so) blissful ignorance wondering what the problem was. When I started researching painful intercourse, from the mechanics to the reasons behind it, I found a surprising lack of information. Women are embarrassed to admit they a) find sex painful or b) can't even attempt to have sex because it's too painful. So, I decided to start this blog to share my experiences, connect with others who are in the same boat and most importantly raise awareness about this silent condition for the women who, like me, have been wondering what's going on down there.
Let's get going...
