Mounties say the deceased is a 59-year-old U.S. man, who was  bear hunting with guides in the Tahtsa Reach Forest Service area which is approximately 112 kilometers south of Houston.

“All parties involved in the incident have been spoken to by police,” Houston RCMP stated in a release.

Members of the Houston RCMP are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and are being assisted by the North District Major Crime Unit, the North District Forensic Identification Unit and the BC Conservation Service. The BC Coroners Service is also conducting an investigation.

The RCMP are not releasing the dead man’s name although his family, through the assistance of authorities in Washington State,  has been notified.
